Respect for Officers

This program teaches youth to show respect for police officers.

As a mother I think that this ministry is good for my daughter. My father was a New York officer for many years and retired as a detective. He would share with me the difference the past and present day society, about their disrespect, loathing and disregard for law and authority. An officer could walk the streets alone and not fear for his/her safety…then it went to needing two officers at a time, it was no longer safe to walk the beat alone. In those days you knew your beat, your neighborhood and they knew you. They looked out for the officer. Not now. The officer has become the enemy.

I have raised my daughter to respect authority. But this ministry has helped her to see that an officer is a friend, some one they can go to. Someone they can trust. Someone that risks their life for us and the community daily....Someone that has a family and a regular life outside of the job just as we do.

What you sow, you reap. The officers are what you reap if you sow bad choices. Yet they are what you reap when you sow good seed, and another has wronged you…they are there for you. It is our job as a community and as believers in Christ to lift up the government, and leaders in our community to up uphold the peace, law, and order.

Thanks,
Rosemarie
